5 months after originally planned, we headed on a family parkrun tourism trip to the Cotswolds and Witney parkrun. Ruth’s birthday pressent from May was a trip to Bourton on the Water Model Village and we finally made it!
Happy Birthday parkrun
Witney parkrun was an unexpected delight! On Google maps it looked like a bit of a playing field perimeter run, but in reality it was a lovely run through tree lined avenues and a wiggly woodland trail. The marshalls were super encouraging and we all got to sing “Happy Birthday” to parkrun, celebrating its last year of being a teenager.
Then, having seen long Qs and minimal breakfast options at the cafe by where you park, we decided to head up the road to Burford where we enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Honeycotts Bakery and bought some tasty cheeses at the nearby Cotswold Cheese Co.
Time to be Giants!
After a little extra run for me (I had to park quite a way out of Bourton on the Water as car-parks were all full) we found ourselves taller than houses as explored the lovely model village, Iona absolutely loved the little houses. Shrinking again we headed into Bourton proper and a little stroll by what may well be the most photographed river in the UK with its little bridge up to the transport museum, famous for being the home of “Brum”.
Another fabulous day of parkrun and exploring!
