For Iona’s 61st parkrun we visited Aviemore parkrun.

It marked the start of our Scottish Adventure, a stop off on our journey up to Gairloch having driven up through the night from Coventry. We were very thankful to see a cafe open at 7:30am in Aviemore, Cobbs Cafe, so we could get a pre-parkrun breakfast and coffee.

Aviemore parkrun is a lovely run through woods and then onto open moorland with views out to the Caingorm mountains. It’s a quite undulating trail run, but the trails are good surfaces and it could easily be run in road shoes providing it’s not too wet or snowy! We received a very warm welcome from the volunteer team and we got to chat to the tail walker and the local parkrun Ambassador as we completed the return leg.

Once finished, it was time for a second breakfast at the fabulous Route 7 cafe, then back in the car to continue our journey via Inverness to head over to the West coast and Gairloch.

There will be more little adventures this week as we explore the mountains an trails of the area so please subscribe to our YouTube channel to join us on our travels.
