Today we went on a family walk to the Fairy Lochs. A 4 mile circular walk which takes you up into the hills behind Shieldaig and Badachro at the side of Loch Gairloch.
A perfect “taster” walk it has a couple of steepish climbs and some boggy sections but nothing too challenging, great for children to enjoy. Plenty of opportunities for a breather as you gaze over the Torridon mountains and back over Loch Gairloch and you can stop for a snack by beautiful lochens with little beaches. An unusual interest point on the walk is a memorial to and wreckage from a USA WW2 bomber that crashed here on its way home at the end of the war, with the sad loss of all on board.
If you fancy giving this walk a try make sure you’ve got a good pair of boots and a waterproof, highland weather is never very predictable, and enjoy!
