As the sun rose over Little Dawley, a group of festive runners gathered to embark on a celebratory adventure – the Pie’d Piper Marathon. Not only were we there for some festive running fun but also to celebrate Lucas’ birthday, and his incredible achievement of completing 100 marathons. The picturesque route winding through the historic Ironbridge only added to the magic of the day.

The Festive Start Line

The air buzzed with excitement as runners, donned in festive attire, gathered at the Unicorn Pub. Santa hats and Christmas-themed running gear created a colourful sea of holiday cheer as Denzil briefed us and led us to the start β€œline”.

Running Through History

The three lap Pie’d Piper Marathon course took us on a journey through the streets of Ironbridge, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its historic significance. We even got to run (3 times!) over the iconic Iron Bridge itself.

A Feast of Pies and Christmas Delights

As we completed each lap at the Unicorn Pub, there were sweet and savory treats for refueling. On display was Lucas’ birthday cake and boxes of pies, a reminder of what we could enjoy when we finished spurring us on!

100 Marathons – A Remarkable Achievement

I actually got to finish the race with Luca and his entourage, surrounded by cheers and applause from fellow runners. The Pie’d Piper Marathon had not only been a fun way to enjoy the season but also a fabulous way to celebrate the milestone for a How Hard Can it be Events regular.

A Run to Remember

The Pie’d Piper Marathon was definitely a magical blend of holiday celebrations, personal achievements, and the joy of running. As we gathered post-race for a festive feast on Denzil’s dirty burgers and Lucas’ birthday cake sharing stories of the day’s adventures, it was clear that this marathon would be etched in our memories. The Pie’d Piper Marathon had successfully brought together the spirit of Christmas, the celebration of birthdays, and the accomplishment running 100 marathons. Looking forward to running again next year!
